Comcast rates my speed at 1000gb. Which sounds awesome but in my house with my gamers, accomplishes very little. My issues are: 1. Network congestion 2. Latency 3. Stability Item 1, nothing I can do about it. Xfinity is the best I can do but I live in a neighborhood and cable is constrained by peak data usage. Item 3, was mostly my fault for setting 2 conducting routers next to each other. I’m going to bridge the Xfinity gateway. This alone may be enough of a solution that I don’t do anything else Item 2 is the gamer issue. I can watch all the homestead rescue I want without latency issues. I occasionally run into problem 1 and 3, but that’s rare. Latency though, that’s a hard nut to crack, unless I run ether cables all over the upstairs of my house. Supposedly, a gaming router has lower latency and scans data packets to prioritize gaming data, reducing “lag” that I hear yelled about upstairs constantly. That said, what Mike beat around the bush about is the gamer mind. They constantly believe that the source of all their problem is an external issue, usually “lag”. Sure, sometimes it really is lag. But I suspect often it’s the player, not the network. That’s why Mike suggested balancing how much time, effort, and money to put into reducing latency, because the gamer mind will never be satisfied
